2025 National Fresenius Award to Maxx Arguilla, University of California, Irvine

The 2025 National Fresenius Award recipient is Professor Maxx Arguilla of the University of California, Irvine. Research in the Arguilla lab focuses on understanding the chemistry and physics of solids in the bulk, at the nanoscale, and down to the atomic level.  They seek to leverage chemical and molecular control over atomic-level and nanoscale morphological dimensionalities in realizing confined electronic, optical, and quantum properties. They harness these nascent and emergent properties to enable next-generation optoelectronics, quantum devices, sensors, and energy conversion platforms. https://www.maxx-lab.com/

Prof. Arguilla will be honored at the awards ceremony on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, in conjunction with ACS Spring 2026 in Atlanta. For more information, visit the ACS website and see the announcement in C&EN.
